課程概述

在這門課中，我們將探討以下基本的形上學議題：什麼是形上學？在個別事物之外有共相的存在嗎？共相如果存在，是怎麼樣的存在呢？事物同一性的的判準是什麼？現在的白宮和十年前的白宮是同一的嗎？“必然性”和“可能性”是什麼意思呢？有必然的真理嗎？可能世界是真實的嗎？如果我有可能是一個工程師，那這個可能的工程師和我是同一的嗎？兩顆蘋果加兩顆蘋果等於四顆蘋果的事實奠基於二加二等於四嗎？或者相反呢？如果所有自然律都是決定性的，那麼我們的行動就完全由自然律和先行條件所強制嗎？或者，我們仍可自由行動呢？ 

課程目標
 本課程的主要目標是瞭解當代形上學的主要議題，學習如何分析和評價形上學理論，以及發展與構思自己的形上學想法。為了達成這些目標，本課程將非常依賴課堂討論，報告，和寫作。
 
課程要求
 Each student is expected to read the assignments before class, attend every class, and participate in in-class discussions. Essays should focus on showing your own philosophical assessment and argument about a given view.
